Bordeaux cat predicts wine harvest

Local cat creates rift as he sniffs out ripe grapes

The Bordeaux cat, known to many as 'Arnaud' has created problems amongst the local wine makers as they try to outbid each other and acquire the fantastic feline with a nose for a good wine.

But will the current owners be willing to part with him after their award winning vines were picked at just the right time in 2014 and 2015, all thanks to Arnaud.

This unusual feline is a master of his own vineyard and routinely inspects the vines throughout the year. He has become so in-tune with the vines that he can now identify, with just one sniff, the precise moment when the grapes are ripe and ready to be harvested.

It has been reported that some wine makers have offered several hundred thousand euros for the moggie, but who is to say that he would even be as capable in a new environment and with new vines around him. The best solution for Arnaud at the moment seems to be to remain with his owners and continue his work.
