'Merci Alfred' is a website for the discerning Parisian who wants to keep track of what's happening and what's not, in the party scene in Paris. Twice a week they email you with details of clandestine bars, secret parties, the coolest restaurants, the sunniest terraces and everything else you could possibly need to make sure you don't miss out!

However, this website have done their sums and analysed the numbers to work out which city in France is the 'coolest' place to be. This survey has nothing to do with green spaces and good transport but is purely based on the restaurants, bars, cinemas, museums and theatres for all cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants.

Bordeaux was in the top five in each section. Coming in at number two for the numbers of inhabitants per bar, and also per theatre or concert hall, proving that there is plenty to do and keep you entertained in this wonderful city!

When all the ratings were averaged out, Bordeaux comes in at the top, followed closely by Paris and then Lyon and Grenoble, with Rouen finishing off the top five. We have a city to be proud of in Bordeaux, make sure that you get out there and enjoy it!
