1. Le Caillou

Location: Bordeaux

A diverse music programming that showcases some of the best local and national talent in jazz, music of the World, blues and many other expressions.

The cafe / bistro within the lush Botanical Garden of Bordeaux is known as 'Caillou' (stone in English). On sunny days, the music is played on terrace with a wonderful botanical garden backdrop. Concerts are held every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (1st set at 20.30) and Saturday (1st set at 21.00).

Admission is free as long as you are eating and / or drinking in the venue.

2. La Ligne Rouge Bar

Location: Bordeaux

Situated at the foot of the historical Porte Cailhau, this bar has a list of more than 100 wines. They are focused on international products as well as some lesser-known wines from Bordeaux.

They also serve charcuterie and cheese platters, as well as cakes. Takeaway and catering service available.

Open from Sunday to Wednesday 18:00-23:00, and Thursday to Saturday 18:00- 01:00.

3. Aux Quatre Coins du Vin Bar

Location: Bordeaux

Centrally located, this bar offers a large selection of wines, especially French but also from other parts of the world. Customers can taste them through a self-service method, and they can be accompanied by regional delicatessen.

The automatic dispenser machines have an assortment of 32 wines which can be tasted in three different sizes, in addition to around 200 bottles. There are also cheese, meat and vegetarian platters, as well as tartines, foie gras and desserts. They sell bottles to take home.

Open Monday and Tuesday from 18:00 to 24:00, and Wednesday to Saturday from 18:00 to 01:00.

4. Casino d'Arcachon, Arcachon

Location: Arcachon

The beautiful building of Chateau Deganne was converted in 1904 into a casino. In the early twentieth century Paris and Bordeaux bourgeoisie came to spend the summer in Arcachon. Thus the town had to create distractions - a casino.

Alongside many slot machines they also have a variety of table games. The building also includes several banquet style halls that are available for hire for special events.

5. La Conserverie-Converserie Bar

Location: Bordeaux

This bar has an old-fashioned decoration that creates a very warm atmosphere. Their wine list includes many French references, as well as from other parts of the world. They can be enjoyed in their cosy interior or the patio, accompanied by selections of local delicatessen.

Open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00-22:00. They also open every first Sunday of the month.

They have a shop where they sell original artisanal products, from jam and lemonade to cold meats or wine. They organise events and exhibitions as well.

6. Bar a vin

Location: Bordeaux

One of the best places to taste wines from the Bordeaux region. Located on the ground floor of the headquarters of the Conseil Interprofessionel du Vin de Bordeaux, the bar's team is very knowledgeable and passionate. They give tasting advice, extensive information on the grapes and suggestions for matching food and wine.

Open from Monday to Saturday, 11:00 to 22:00.

Cheese, charcuterie and chocolate selections offered.
