Some of the richest gastronomic products in France come from the Bordeaux region. The wine in particular is celebrated the world over and comes from ancient vines in the estates of Medoc, Entre Deux Mers and Bordeaux areas. As if nature intended this wonderful partnership, oysters are also incredibly popular in the region, the perfect accompaniment to a glass of chilled white wine.

Bazas Beef
Bazas Beef, or 'Boeuf de Bazas' in French is the label given to beef that has been raised under strict guidelines within the region. Three types of cows are allowed: Bazadaise, Limousine, and Blonde d’Aquitaine.

Cepes (Mushrooms)
The weather conditions in the Bordeaux region make is an excellent place for the growing of cêpes, or porcini mushrooms as they are more commonly known.

Foie Gras
Famous throughout France as being an over-the-top garnish for meat dishes, this rich and buttery tasting delicacy is actually the fattened liver of duck or geese.

Grapes
The Bordeaux wine region lies along the rivers Dordogne and Garonne and covers an area of over 120,000 hectares.

Oysters from the Atlantic
France' produces some 130,000 tonnes of oysters annually, of which most is harvested in the Bay of Arcachon, just 48km south west of the city of Bordeaux.

Pauillac Lamb
The raising methods of Pauillac Lamb have been protected by EU GI certification since 2003, where the lamb must be born and raised in the Gironde ("Agneau né et élevé en Gironde").
