A great place to get to grips with the history and modern culture of the area in one hit. Well laid out and a great space for a family trip.

Archeology: pre and proto-historic as well as the Gallo-Roman periods in the Medoc. A unique museum in the Medoc where you can discover rare period pieces.

Modern Art: exposition of modern art bringing together the work of local artists from Aquitaine with those form artists of national and international renown.

The collection includes over 3,000 pieces, some of major interest, such as wild boar-taught Gallic found on the beach of Amelie in 1989. The collection of modern art , organized under the leadership of Jean-Claude Lasserre, Chief Curator of the General Inventory of Aquitaine, includes more than 300 works (paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures) of Aquitaine artists before and after the war (Armande Marty Joseph River, Jac Belaubre).

When to come

Open from April to September, from 15:00 to 19:00 (closed Mondays and Tuesdays). July and August, from 15:00 to 19:00​ every day

How to book

You can get tickets on arrival at the museum, there is no need to book in advance.

How to get passes

Tickets cost 3€, free for children under 15.

Child policy

Entry to the museum is free for children under the age of 15.
