The new trains will be joining a fleet of 40 which are planned for the south-west SNCF network. Four will be in service by the end of the year, with more being readied for the launch of the new Tours-Bordeaux high-speed line which is due to open in July 2017.

With ergonomic and pivoting seats in 1st class, a more pleasing colour scheme and accents of wood, leather and wool, the new trains have been described as a real 'comfort bubble'. Another notable innovation is that most of the seats onboard will swivel to face the direction of travel, offering more comfort for travellers. New features in second class include a larger pull-down table with USB and electric sockets and more leg room between seats.

The new trains are currently running on the existing line between Paris and Bordeaux and will switch to the new high-speed line once it is up and running.
