Chateau Lanessan, Cussac-Fort-Medoc

Haut-Médoc wines from this Tudor-style château

Imprint
Updated

Located on a beautiful gravel ridge, the vineyard is made up of 45 hectares surrounded by 450 hectares of woodland. Their main grape variety is Cabernet Sauvignon, but they also cultivate Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.

This pretty château was constructed by Henri Duphot in the late 19th century. Its neoclassical style is inspired by Tudor architecture. It is surrounded by an English-style park.

Wine has been produced here since the 18th century, and the estate has belonged to 8 generations of the Bouteiller family. In 2009, Hubert Bouteiller retired and Paz Espejo, took over the management as part of the family's ambition of injecting new life into the property. They produce three Haut-Médoc AOC wines.

When to come

The property can be visited by appointment for tours and tastings or trips around the estate in a horse-drawn carriage. There is also a museum which houses a collection of about ten horse-drawn carriages in perfect condition.
