Chateau Chasse Spleen, Moulis-en-Medoc

Chateau producing Moulis-en-Médoc appellation wines

Imprint
Updated

Located in Moulis-en-Médoc, this estate has vineyards producing four different red wines of the Moulis-en-Médoc, Moulis and Haut-Médoc appellations, plus a white Bordeaux Blanc wine.

The estate was founded by Monsieur Gressier in 1720, when he bought a gravel plot dominating the marshes by the road leading to Pauillac, planting vines and building a country house for accommodation during the wine-producing seasons. Legend says that Lord Byron visited the estate, praising the quality of the wine known to 'dispel the spleen'; the wine's new name was taken from the story. Nowadays the estate is run by Céline Villars.
