The beginning of February is a tense time for restaurants, especially those with Michelin stars or those hoping to gain one of those much sought after stars.

Last week, Michelin published their list of 2017 Michelin Guide restaurants, which includes those restaurants not only with one, two or three stars, but also those restaurants that Michelin has recommended or singled out as 'Bib Gourmand'.

Happily, for the gourmets, foodies and tourists of the city of Bordeaux, they have three Michelin star restaurants right in the heart of the city, including the 2-star restaurant, the sumptuous Restaurant Pierre Gagnaire which is situated within the luxury hotel La Grande Maison.

Le Pressoir d'Argent, the restaurant opened by British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay in 2015 has gained its second Michelin star in 2017. It was awarded the 1-star rating in 2016 just four months after opening. Retaining their 1 Michelin star, Le Pavillion des Boulevards Restaurant offers two tasting menus as well as 'a la carte' dining.

Travelling a little further from the city you will also find some fantastic 1 and 2 Michelin star restaurants, such as Le Prince Noir restaurant just over the river in Lormont and the exquisite La Grand'Vigne situated within the hotel Les Sources de Caudalie in Martillac.
